The now annual Bantry Bay Run i.e 1/2 Marathon will take place this year on May 10th which is the May Bank Holiday weekend. Glengarriff to Bantry. you can register on www.bayrun.ie. Monies in aid of the Bantry Hospice.

The annual Lifeboat dinner dance will be taking place at the Westlodge Hotel on Sat. Jan. 25th at 8.30pm. This fundraising event is for a very worthy cause so get out the dancing shoes and finery and attend . It usually goes on till the wee hours.

The Dublin Guitar quartet will be playing at Bantry House on December 5th next at 8pm performing Gorecki’s Quasi Una Fantasia Movement 1, Movement V from White Man sleeeps and much more do try to make it, to support the artists as this performance is their debut.

A tribute concert to the late Seamus Creagh a great fiddle player will be held on Nov. 27th next at 8pm organised by Matt Cranitch. He has managed to bring together some great musicians all friends of Seamus i.e Tommy peoples, Geraldine O’Callaghan, De Dannans Colm Murphy on bodhran and many more and singing also quite a few .All proceeds to be donated to Seamus favourite charity.

Bantry House are holding a cocktail party in aid of Bantry Hospice a very worthy cause and needs to be well supported and what a nice way to spend a winters evening so please attend on October 24th. The annual festival has already kicked off with a visit from author Michael Smith and Jane Mitchell will be there on Oct. 16th her most recent book “Chalkline” which was only published in June. Storytime for 4-8yr.olds takes place every Saturday morning at 11am up to October 24th and there will be a special Halloween reading on Sat. 31st. Admission is free.

Christy Moore will be performing on Friday August 14th at 10.30pm in Bantry House.
